Growing older, he sold his beloved land in Maple Grove to “the boys,” who he knew would continue to love the land as he did. In company with the new owners, Harry was able to enjoy fishing, hunting and maple syrup making at “the cabin” throughout his later years.
Harry took his marriage vows most seriously and he and Marjorie spent nearly six decades devoted to one another. He cherished her above all else.
Additionally, Harry considered himself a lucky man to have the companionship and good will of so many family members and friends. In his final days he valued the opportunity to reminisce with and say goodbye to the people he loved. Harry approached death demonstrating considerable strength and stamina.
His customary concern for family and friends extended through his final week; his graceful and dignified departure was both beautiful and inspiring.
Harry was appreciative of the services of Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care and the other caregivers who eased his final days.
A memorial service honoring Harry’s life is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13,at Johnston Funeral Home, Morris, with burial to follow in Hillington Cemetery, Morris.
