SIDNEY — Fred Wuthrich Jr., 93, of Sidney, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 24, 2013, at his home.
Fred was born on Feb. 17, 1920, son of the late Fred Sr. and Fannie (Haller) Wuthrich in Meiringen, Switzerland.
Fred served honorably in the U.S. Army for a brief period of time. Following his honorable discharge, he was married to Ruth Carlson on June 14, 1945, in Unadilla. She predeceased him on April 18, 2000.
Fred retired from Bendix in Sidney as a machine operator after 41 years. He loved camping, fishing and hunting, and in his younger years, took numerous trips with friends to Canada to fish. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and watching the birds.
He loved to fly and had aspirations to be a pilot, but his eyesight prevented him from doing so. Fred also enjoyed watching Western movies, especially with the Duke, John Wayne.
Fred is survived by his sister, Erna Babcock; and a nephew, Jason Babcock and his wife, Lisa of Sidney.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, he was predeceased by two sisters, Dora Lang and Trudy Baker.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
