SCHENEVUS — Mildred “Millie” J. Prager, 68, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

She was born on July 15, 1944, in New Windsor. Millie was the youngest of seven children born to Ray and Mildred (Hull) McMillen. She spent her early years growing up in Walden. In the early 1960s, she and her parents moved to Worcester.

In 1962, Millie married Henry Prager. They had two sons, August and Kurt. Millie’s life revolved around her family and close friends. She enjoyed having company, drinking tea, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a lifelong homemaker and had several enterprises including antiquing, chair caning and furniture refinishing. Her talent, hard work, and craftsmanship lie present in anything she touched. At one time, she was the village historian and worked tirelessly recording community events. In her 50s, she embarked on a career as a rural carrier with the U.S. Post Office, which she was especially proud of.

She is survived by her loving husband, Henry; her sons, August (Jackie) and Kurt (Karen); and her three grandchildren, Lia, Logan and Lucas.

She was a genuinely pleasant and caring person who greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word.

There will be a graveside burial service 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Schenevus Cemetery, Main Street, Schenevus. All who knew her are welcome to attend this celebration of her life. A reception will follow at the Schenevus VFW.
