James C. Wilber
FRANKLIN — James C. Wilber, 58, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the Tri-Town Hospital in Sidney.
Jim was born on April 7, 1955, in Oneonta, the son of Frederick W. and Dorothy J. (Safford) Wilber. He married Susan Atcher on Oct. 12, 1974.
Jim worked as a machinist for the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Franklin Fire Department and Emergency Squad, currently serving as Fourth Assistant Chief. Prior to that, he served with the Wells Bridge Fire Department.
Jim was devoted to fire service and participated in many seminars and training events throughout the country. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and community member.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Wilber of Franklin; his mother, Dorothy Wilber of Wells Bridge; his son, Ken Wilber and his wife, Amanda of Franklin. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Gross of Gilbertsville; his uncles, Earl Wilber and his wife, Alice of Franklin and Halsey Wilber and his wife, Donna of Franklin; as well as many nieces; nephews and cousins.
im was predeceased by his father, Frederick W. Wilber and his brother, Douglas Wilber.
A Fireman’s Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Franklin Central School.
