Dorothy May (Meres) Shaw
SIDNEY — Dorothy May (Meres) Shaw, 98, of Sidney and formerly of Meredith passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 9, 2014, at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born March 23, 1915, in the town of Walton. On Oct. 18, 1933, she married Benjamin T. Shaw in Meredith. She was a Sidney resident for the past 14 years. Dorothy was a longtime member of the Meredith Baptist Church.
Dorothy and her husband operated a dairy farm in the town of Meredith from 1935 until their retirement in 1968. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed and loved her family.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin H. and Kathryn Shaw, Sidney, Floyd and Lila Shaw, Cookeville, Tenn., Lynn and Jean Shaw or Troy, daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Roger Crooks of Hudson, Fla., three sisters-in-law, Ina Meres, Bainbridge, Betty Blanchard of Binghamton, and Joyce Shaw of Meredith; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin T., Son, William (Bill), four brothers Angie, Burt, Gilbert and Alvin Meres, and one sister, Mary Thompson.
Family and friends may call at their convenience on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, NY 13838.
Memorial services and burial will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
