MOUNT UPTON — Eleanor E. Winfield, 86, of Mount Upton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Norwich Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 5, 1927, daughter of the late Glenn and Fanny (Sherwood) Pope in New Berlin.

Eleanor married Raymond Miner. He predeceased her. She later married Lester Winfield on July 26, 1958. He predeceased her on Jan. 31, 2014.

Eleanor was employed as a bench hand for the Amphenol Corporation in Sidney when she retired in 1989. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mount Upton and the Borden Hose Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and puzzles.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters, John and Marie Miner of Gilbertsville, Dianna Wheeler of Daytona Beach, Fla., Carlton Miner of Sidney, Joan and Ron Wildenstein of Mount Upton, Gene Miner of Hawaii and William and Donna Miner of Ocala, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Miner of Bradenton, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Linda Pope, Mount Upton; sister, Alberta Ives, Sidney; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Steve Brown, Bradley, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 43 great- grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

She was also predeceased by a son, Donald Miner; two brothers, Elsor and Niles Pope; grandson, Scott Miner; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Thomas Flanders officiating.

A spring burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Mount Upton, 1749 State Highway 8, Mt. Upton, NY 13809 or to the Mount Upton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 199, Mt. Upton.
