Clayton R. (Wig) Bellows
MORRIS — Clayton R. (Wig) Bellows went to be with the Lord on Feb. 25, 2014, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital.
Clayton was born in 1927, in Roxbury, son of Clarence and Cora (Peet) Bellows.
He attended Roxbury Central School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Clayton married Mary Ellen Taber on Nov. 5, 1948, in Baltimore, Md., and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
After living in Oneonta they purchased property in Morris in 1963.
Clayton was employed as a bricklayer apprentice in 1950 BAC Local 57. In 1985, he became the business agent for Local 57 and officially retired in 1990. Clayton worked on local hospitals, colleges, churches and highways.
The Bellows were members of the Sidney Boat Club, Fish Creek, Oneida Lake from 1959 to 2013. Clayton had also been a member of the Morris American Legion and Fire Department.
Clayton was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and a nephew.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; a son, Stephen (Penny Lee) Bellows; a daughter, Lucinda (Joseph) Miller; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
