ONEONTA — Lois J. Muehl, 87, most recently of The Plains at Parish Homestead and formerly of Emmons, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.

Lois was born on April 15, 1926, in Cobleskill, the daughter of the late John and Leonia (Walker) Jennings.

She married Michael J. Muehl on June 8, 1946.

From 1952 to 1979, Mike and Lois operated a dairy farm in Emmons, while raising six children. In addition to her farming duties, she worked as a waitress for Brooks’ House of Bar-B-Q’s for 26 years.

Lois had many interests including quilting, reading, knitting and sewing. She was a wonderful baker and cook who welcomed everyone to her table, no one left hungry.

Lois was a member of St. Mary’s Church and faithfully served on the bereavement committee. In her younger years she was active in the PTA.

Lois is survived by her husband of 67 years, Michael J. Muehl, currently residing at the Plains; her children, Michael Linda Borfitz and her husband, Harmon of The Villages, Fla., Andrea Anne Mack and her husband, Barry of Plattsburgh, Mark Muehl and his wife, Priscilla of Fairborn, Ohio, Drue Muehl and his wife, Kathy of Millport, Alex Muehl and his wife, Annmarie of Harpursville, and Gretchen Louise Reamy and her husband, Christopher of Centreville, Va. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry Haslun Jr. and his wife, Carol of Middleburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

 Lois was predeceased by her parents; her brother, George Jennings; and her stepfather, Henry Haslun Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Memorial donations in Lois’ name may be made to the Salvation Army, 25 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
