GUILFORD — Francis James Hubbard, 73, of Lake Road, Guilford, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 22, 2013, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta. 

He was born March 20, 1940, in Binghamton, the son Archie Hubbard and the late Laura Westcott. 

On June 20, 1959, at the Guilford Methodist Church, he married Carol Mae Ingham.

Fran was a well-known building contractor in the Tri-County area. His faith was the cornerstone he built his life on. He was instrumental in the reconstruction of the Sidney United Methodist Church following the floods of 2006 and 2011. 

He was an active member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and served for several years on its board of trustees, was past president of Chenango County chapter of the Southern Tier Home Builders Association, president of the Guilford Lake Home Owners Association, and a former member of the Bainbridge-Guilford Central School Board of Education. For several years, he served as Sunday school superintendent for the Guilford Methodist Church. 

Fran was an active member of the planning committee for the Town of Guilford. 

Mr. Hubbard was a caring and loving man with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Hubbard; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Bill Finch, Judy and Kenneth Albano and Suzanne and Keith Robinson, son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Nicole Hubbard; father and stepmother, Archie and Sally Hubbard; two brothers and sister-in-law, David Hubbard and Robert and Darlene Hubbard; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Paul Keller, Phyllis and Mike Winn, Helen Hubbard, Doris and Allen Leatherman, Sally and John Cawthron, Nancy and Dale Fannin, and Anne and David Butcher. Francis is also survived by 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepmother, Ruth Hubbard, sister-in-law, Shirley Hubbard and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Barry Williams.
