Stratford F. Deitch
WESTFORD — Stratford F. Deitch, 90, of Westford, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in the Bronx, the son of John P. and Mary A. (Shields) Deitch.
He married Barbara Jane Kurz on Aug. 26, 1949.
Strat was a professional dog breeder and handler. He was partial to the St. Bernard breed, and entered and placed in many dog shows throughout the United States, including the prestigious Westminister Show.
For several years, Strat was a sales person for several area car agencies, and was a recipient of many sales awards.
He was most proud of the fact that his heritage went back to the Revolutionary War, where it was proven that he was a direct descendant of a war hero.
He is survived his wife of 64 years, Barbara Deitch; his children, Kim and David DeFalco and John and Tammy Deitch; his grandchildren, Jennifer Milillo, Stratford and Cornelius Corkwell, Kaylee DeFalco, Jonathan, Ashley, Christopher, Jessica, Melanie, David, Keith, and Charlie Deitch; and a great-grandchild, Irelyn Deitch. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Deitch; and a brother-in-law, Roger Kurz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sons, Stratford, David and Howard Deitch; and five brothers and sisters.
