Robert H. Reid
FORT PLAIN — Robert H. Reid, 77, of Fort Plain, passed away in Nathan Latteur Nursing Home in the early hours of Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, after an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Cedarville, the son of Irving and Florence (Neale) Reid.
In agriculture class at Mohawk Central School, he met Shirley Grose. They married on March 30, 1957, in South Ilion Methodist Church.
They were dairy farmers at several locations in the Ilion, Jordanville and Fort Plain areas. Robert also had a Commercial Driver's License and picked up canned milk from several other farmers and faithfully delivered it to Herkimer Creamery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara; and brothers, Irving, Donald and Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; brother, David of Frankfort; sisters, Faith Case of West Winfield and Marjorie McAnuff of Austin, Texas; daughter, Phyllis Reid Anderson of Fort Washington, Pa.; son, Ralph of Viera, Fla. and son, Roger who now owns and operates the family farm, their spouses; and 10 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Cherry Valley United Methodist Church.
