CANAJOHARIE — Elizabeth R. Van Buren, 88, of Canajoharie and formerly of St. Johnsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at her home.
She was born March 15, 1925, in Roxbury, the daughter of the late Henry and Beulah (Roberts) Morse and was a graduate of Roxbury Central School.
Her marriage to Stewart B. Van Buren took place on March 15, 1946, in Denver. The couple shared a blessed union of 67 years until the passing of Stewart on July 19, 2013.
Mrs. Van Buren was last employed at the Margaretville Hospital as a food service supervisor.
Survivors include her son, Michael Van Buren and wife Dorothy of Middle Grove; her daughter, Sandra Young with who she resided with; a sister, Genevieve Fusscas of Andes; four grandchildren, Lonnie Van Buren, Ricky Van Buren, Michael Young and Rebecca Lyon; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald Young.
In keeping with Elizabeth’s wishes arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, (518) 568-7040.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the home of Sandra Young, 17 Ridge Road, Canajoharie.
Inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
