---- — Judy A. Wilkinson
MILFORD — Judy A. Wilkinson, 62, formerly of Milford, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Valley Health Services in Herkimer. Judy was born Oct. 19, 1951, to Irwin G. Wilkinson, Sr. and Elizabeth Noldan Wilkinson in Walton.
Shortly after Judy’s birth her parents bought a home and moved the family to Milford, where her father went to work for the “Cheese Factory,” home of the famous “Pineapple Cheese.”
In October of 1962, Judy and her family lost their mother as the result of a motor vehicle accident and she and her siblings made a commitment to remain close as a family and to always help one another. This was a commitment that has never dimmed.
Judy was raised in the Milford area, attended Milford Central School graduating in the Class of 1970 along with her brother Jack. She was active in many school activities and began her life-long love of music after singing in the school choir and playing clarinet in the school band. She graduated from SUNY Delhi and was employed for many years as a secretary at the then Oneonta State Teachers College in Oneonta.
She loved people, enjoyed socializing and partying with family and friends, music, movies, dancing, summer days, the “out-of-doors” and she especially loved walks and activities where she could simply “soak in the sun.”
Judy was predeceased by her brother, Daniel in 1999 and her brother, Irwin in 2010.
She is survived by her siblings, Susan Potter of Jordanville, David of Otego and Jack of Laurens; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very dear and special friend, Robin Whitbeck of Unadilla.
Judy’s family expresses heartfelt and deep appreciation to all of her many caregivers and the staff at Valley Health Services.
Graveside services for Judy will in the spring in the Milford Cemetery in Milford.
For those who so desire, the family suggests donations in Judy’s memory be made to the Richfield Springs Fire Department, c/o Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 1456, Richfield Springs, NY 13439.
Arrangements are under the care of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown.
