Pat was a member of the Cooperstown “Sons of the American Legion,” serving currently as its Commander, he was a member of the “Cooperstown Native Sons,” and was, throughout his life, active in his church, St. Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Roman Catholic Church where he had served as an altar boy in his youth and was currently serving as an usher and as the sexton of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Index.

Pat is survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth; his sisters, Kathleen (James) Brizzell of Loudonville, JoAnn Christman of Clay, Angela Christman of Watertown; and his brother, Timothy (Laura) Christman of Marcellus. He is also survived by his aunts, Elizabeth Morris of Chestertown, and Genevieve Smerski of Cooperstown; as well as by seven nieces and nephews; and many cousins and by friends literally too numerous to mention.

A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown with Father John P. Rosson officiating. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow the service.

Friends are invited to call at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home, 28 Pioneer St., Cooperstown, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6. Vigil prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests that those who wish make contributions in Pat’s memory, and in recognition of his love of animals, to the Susquehanna SPCA, 4841 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Arrangements are under the supervision of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and by local members of the Leatherstocking Funeral Directors Association.
