Percy W. Wart
HARTWICK — On Monday, March 10, 2014, Seven Spanish angels took another angel, Percy W. Wart, home with his family by his side.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1945, the son of Walter E. and Helena (Wiltse) Wart. He was raised on Christian Hill on his family farm. He graduated from Cooperstown Central School.
He worked for James Hurtubise Construction for many years. In 1995, he opened and ran his own Blacktopping business until his retirement in 2010.
Over the years he could be found at LaJuKa Farms in Mount Vision plowing, planting or haying the fields with Jerry Wood.
He was an avid NASCAR fan especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr., and enjoyed watching the races with his friends and family. He had a great love of life, and especially his pets, Lily and Paisley.
He is survived by his life partner of 24 years, Leola “Cookie” Folts; his daughter, Helena Elderkin (Mark); sons, Percy Jr. (Tammy) and Walter (Paula); his grandchildren, Tyler Elderkin, Mason Wart, Shanette Couse and Kayla Thomson; with great-grandson, Damien Phillips; his “stepchildren,” Melissa Little (Patrick), John Weir (Jenn), Michelle Dibble (Dennis), Courtney Weir (Luke). He is also survived by his brothers, Lowell (Suzy) and Hanford of Cooperstown, Charlie (Jill) of Fort Plain; his sisters, Lois Thayer of Cooperstown and Belle Ashline of Saratoga; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Jane Pashley; brother-in-law, Larry Ashline.
Per Percy’s wishes there will be no formal services.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley.
