Gloria C. Rolland
ROXBURY — Gloria C. Rolland passed away peacefully March 7, 2014, at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
She was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Brooklyn, the daughter of John and Mary (Mulligan) Iburg.
Gloria graduated from Bushwick High School in Brooklyn. She worked for Met-Life Insurance Company in New York City.
She married Richard Rolland on May 23, 1953, in Vestal.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Rolland after 59 years of marriage on Aug.16, 2012.
Gloria lived in the town of Andes from 1953 to 1959, and on April 1, 1959, she moved to Roxbury.
She had many interests and talents. She was a downhill ski racer and instructor, a golfer, hunter, gardener, knitter extraordinaire. Gloria loved sewing, weaving and needlepoint. She was an exceptional cook and baker, a longtime library volunteer, a book addict, classical music enthusiast, picture taker and loving rescuer of dogs and cats.
Gloria was very appreciated by her family and friends
Survivors are her children, Mary Rolland (Steve Saraydar) and Richard Rolland (Diane Stewart); her sister, Margaret Webb; her niece, Pat Kuyawski (Ron); and many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
