MORRIS — Purl Milton “Bud” Knickerbocker, passed away March 17, 2014, at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehab in Oneonta.
He was born on March 8, 1924, to LeRoy and Louise Knickerbocker.
He graduated from Morris Central School in 1942 after which he began his working career with the Foote Brothers.
Bud was married to Dorthia Gaughan on Oct. 2, 1943, by the Rev. William Gartshore in Garrattsville. They were married for more than 70 years. For more than 40 years he worked for I.L. Richer Co. maintaining its facilities until his retirement.
Bud was an avid golfer. Until his eyesight began to fail, he spent his retirement years on the golf course. In his spare time Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was also a long time New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his wife, Dorthia Knickerbocker; daughter, Peggy Brown and son-in-law, Craig; grandsons, Scott Brown, Douglas Brown and wife, Niccole; his great- granddaughters, Logann Brown and Lorann Brown. Bud is also survived by his special girls, Amber and Michele.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris with the Rev. Nancy Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillington Cemetery.
