Marie Ange (Bonenfant) Hitchcock

STAMFORD — Marie Ange (Bonenfant) Hitchcock, 88, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the Ontario County Health Facility, in Canandaigua.

She is survived by two children, Evelyne Bottorf and Daniel (Catherine) Hitchcock; three grandchildren, Rit (Bonnie) Bottorf, Katie Hitchcock Villarroel and Sarah Hitchcock (Lyle) Langley; and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Hitchcock in 2002; sister, Jeanne “Mimi” Bonenfant in 2012; and son-in-law, Frank Bottorf in January of 2013.

Marie was born in Neuville au Plain, France, and was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Louise (Guerin) Bonenfant.

She was a war bride, meeting her future husband Harold, while he was stationed in France, during World War II. Marie emigrated to the United States in 1946, settling in Stamford, where she raised her family.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Marie enjoyed being a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary. She was dedicated to her faith and church.

Some of the greatest times of her life, were spent with her grandchildren, attending their graduations, weddings and cultural events.

Marie will be remembered as a fabulous cook, baking special treats for many people in the community.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her dear friends, Kathy Bagnardi, Lisa and Dan Key and Lynn and Bob Abarno, for their love, support and kindness shown to Marie, throughout the years.

There will be no calling hours.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper St., Stamford. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario County Health Facility Activities Fund, 3062 County Complex Drive, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper St., Stamford, NY 12167.
