Inez M. Truman
MARYLAND — Inez M. Truman, 79, of Maryland and formerly of Cooperstown, passed away peacefully Oct. 18, 2013, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
She was born May 18, 1934, in Ilion, a daughter of Orval and Merle (Graves) Truman. Inez worked for 42 years as a dietitian at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Her church and family were very important to her throughout her entire life. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of Southgate Ministries in Waterville and volunteered at The Lord’s Table in Oneonta. It was a well-know fact that she drove 120 miles each Sunday to attend church.
Inez also enjoyed the time she spent with the Susquehanna Valley Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy E. Pope of Cedarville and Ida May and her husband, Lawrence Brooks Sr., of Hubbardsville; nieces and nephews, Linda Pope-Coffin and her husband, Cliff Sr., Fred Pope and his wife, Heidi, Barry Pope and his wife, Candice, Jeffery Pope and his wife, Gail, Aaron Pope and his wife, Susan, Lawrence Brooks Jr. and his wife, Laura, Dan Brooks and his wife, Deb, Vicki Brooks-Godfrey and her husband, Kevin, and Steve Brooks and his wife, Althea; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and special friends, Rodney Erway and Michelle Lewis and their family.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of A.O. Fox Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care given to Inez during her stay there, and also the countless others who provided love and support to her.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 W. Main St., West Winfield, NY 13491. Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will begin at 11 a.m. prior to the funeral.
