Ferdinand ‘Frank’ Thomas
DAVENPORT — Ferdinand “Frank” Thomas, 69, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
He was born on May 29, 1944, in New Hyde Park.
Frank was married to Elizabeth Miller.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 until 1968 during the Vietnam War.
Frank was a New York City police officer for many years. After retiring from the NYPD, he worked at the Charlotte Valley Central School.
Frank was an active member of the Davenport Fire Department and part of a “pit crew” for a race car team.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; his stepson, Ronald Stannard and his wife, Tina and their children, Samantha Kniskern and Zachary Kniskern; his mother-in-law, Carol Miller; his brothers-in-law, Carl (Janet) Miller, Kevin Miller, Alan (Ester) Miller and Brian Miller; his sisters-in-law, Cathy (John) Miller and Connie Chase; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Carl Miller; and his sister-in-law, Helen Stannard.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Davenport Fire Department with the Rev. Alan Miller, officiating.
