GARRATTSVILLE — Gordon Goodspeed, 85, a lifelong resident of Garrattsville, slipped away peacefully at home on June 24, 2013.
Gordon was born to Lewis and Pearl Goodspeed in the town of Butternuts. Gordon was married to Betty Butler on Aug. 1, 1948.
Gordon is survived by his devoted wife, Betty and loving children, Priscilla Ostraco and (Nick), Lennie and (Brenda), Joel and (Cheryl), Pammy and (John), Jeff and (Dawn) and Craig and (Laurie); as well as 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by his sister, Eunice Saunders; his brother, George Goodspeed; and his foster brother, James Carr.
Gordon was predeceased by his son, John; parents, Lewis and Pearl; foster parents, Sheldon and Marguerite Carr; brothers, Roland and Donald; and foster sister, Shirley Ketchum.
Gordon served in the Navy (Seabees) from 1941 to 1945. Gordon retired from JM Robertson Paving in 1983 and was later employed by Webster’s Paving until 2006.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
