DOLGEVILLE — Anne F. (Gibbons) Sabatello, 88, of Dolgeville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin, where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was born in Watervliet, the daughter of William and Anastasia Futuluychuk.

She married Sgt. A. J. Gibbons, Jr. at Barksdale Field, La. in 1944. He passed away in February of 1946 in Salida, Colorado. In September of 1950 she married John A. Sabatello of Flushing, and they lived for many years in Dolgeville, until his death in December 2004.

Anne was a member of the Women’s Army Air Corps WWII and met her first husband while stationed in Louisiana. She was a former member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Dolgeville and the Dolgeville Fire Department Auxiliary. Until her retirement she had worked as a shipping clerk at Tricot Fabricating in Dolgeville and had been an active member of the women’s Wednesday night bowling league.

Later she enjoyed playing golf in the morning women’s league in Little Falls. Anne was very proud of her homemade cheesecake topped with cherries and provided one at every special occasion much to the delight of those who attended.

She is survived by her son, William (Jack) Gibbons and his wife, Sharyn of Edmeston; her grandchildren, Michelle Johnston and her husband Ron of Plainfield , Phil Gibbons and his wife, Eva of Cicero, and Christy Hopper and her husband Kevin of Cazenovia, as well as her six great grandchildren, Ashely, Brittany, Madison, Aiden, Connor and Liam. Anne was predeceased by her sister, Mary Futuluychuk, and her brothers, Stephen Futuluychuk and John Fuller.

Calling hours will be at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris,

Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, from 9 to 11am. A funeral service will follow with The Rev. Robert E. Witt, Jr. officiating. Committal Services and burial with military honors will be held at 2PM at the Dolgeville cemetery in Dolgeville.
