Patricia Nigro Bookhout

ONEONTA – On Oct. 3, 2012, Patricia Nigro Bookhout left on a wonderful extended holiday to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, thanking HIM for the gift of time to say her goodbyes.

An area resident for more than 57 years, Pat was born on May 24, 1955 in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Albert Nirgo and her best friend and mom, Elsie Nigro, of Oneonta.

Pat attended Hartwick College, was married to and continued to enjoy her friendship with Bruce Bookhout, of Sidney Center. Pat’s greatest joys were her daughters and watching them grow into young women, Rebecca Bookhout, of Worcester, Mass. (Mark Theophel) and Rachel Bookhout, of Boston, Mass. Her dog Maggie also brought her great joy.

Pat is also survived by her lifetime friend and sister, Elaine Wood of Oneonta (Christopher); sisters, Connie Nadar of Oneonta (Michael), Kathy Smith of North Carolina (Rich); brothers, Thomas Nigro of East Worcester, Daniel Nigro of North Carolina (Judy) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Over the years, Pat had been employed in the Oneonta/Sidney area working with children, families and adults in different settings, but the goal was always the same, trying to advocate for what people needed.

Pat wanted to personally thank all of you that have touched her life, the littlest gesture made a difference. Thank you to Dr. Egal and Dr. Matsuo and the cancer center for the love they showed.

Also a special thanks to Elaine, Gerry and Keith, Pat and Dawn, for standing by her through the last few years. Pat thought you were awesome and loved you all.
