CULPEPER, VA - Wilfred Gorsira, age 88, of Culpeper, VA, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his residence.
Wilfred was born in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles on January 23, 1924, to Johannes Philippus Evertsz Gorsira and Celina Leonie Palm. He lived a full life, having survived a forced labor camp at 15 when Germany invaded Holland; having enlisted in the British Army briefly before the end of the war; and coming to the United States. He graduated from Swarthmore College, PA, and Case Western Reserve University, Ohio, with a degree in dentistry. Wilfred enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a Captain in the Army Corp of Dentistry at Fort Meade, MD. He went on to practice dentistry in Huntington Long Island, and then in Morris, NY where he was a treasured member of the community for 35 years before retiring and moving to Culpeper, VA. Wil enjoyed fishing, walking his dogs, cooking, reading, music and trips to Curacao.
Surviving Wilfred are his wife, Barbara Gorsira of Culpeper, VA; his three children- son, Bryan Gorsira, his wife Amy and their children, Connor and Lindsey of Warrenton, VA, daughter, Dian Gorsira of Tampa, FL, son, Michael Gorsira and his wife Rebecca of Broadalbin, NY; Barbara’s daughter, Kim Gorman, her husband David, and their children Marie and Christopher of Hollidaysburg, PA; sister, Nylka Weber of Vancouver, Canada; and nieces, nephews, special friends and caregivers.
Preceding Wilfred in death were his parents, a sister, Hertha Gorsira and a brother, John Edward Gorsira.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012at Autumn Care, Madison. Condolences may be offered through cloreenglish.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA.
