Albert Timer Sr.
LAURENS — Albert Timer Sr., 94, of Laurens, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.
He was born in New York City, the son of William and Hulda (Manke) Timer.
He married Emily Mednansky on June 18, 1950, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Laurens, where he was a lifelong member.
Albert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Oops…forgot BROTHER too.
He was a man who shared his deep love of farming and using the saw mill with his children, grandchildren and neighbors. He was known for his sense of humor (he was the first to laugh at his own joke), his keen mind, and his loyalty to those he loved. Albert was generous and hardworking and appreciated a good bargain and could always be found at a garage sale, flea market or auction.
He loved history, and loved to share family lore, building bridges between the past and the present. He was intrigued by how things worked, and loved to solve mechanical challenges. He was an inventor and jack of many trades. Albert enjoyed playing poker with his grandkids and loved a good crossword puzzle.
Albert was a man who expressed his love to others through his actions, hard work and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, Emily of 63 years; his six children, Al (Lee) Timer Jr. of Fowlerville, Mich., Marilyn Garman of Unadilla, Betty (Les) Burgess of Mount Vision, John (Penny) Timer of Mount Vision, Maryann (Brian) Bissell of Otego, Jim (Kim) Timer of Cobleskill; six grandchildren Jen Timer (Marilyn), Crystal Timer, Joshua (Katie) Timer, Adam Burgess, Zac Dobler and Travis Timer; two sisters, Bertha George and Wanda Karlan; sister and brothers-in-law, Lillian Timer, Matilda (Jack) Kostbar, Sally Mednansky and Steve Mednansky.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Amelia, Elsa and Frieda; his brothers, Bill, Ed and Dan; and his son-in-law, Herb Garman Jr.
