Bruce Alan Schoonmaker Jr.

DAVENPORT — Bruce Alan Schoonmaker Jr., 52, of Davenport, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Thorndale, Pa.

He was born on March 3, 1960, in Stamford, the son of Bruce and Billie Mae (Graig) Schoonmaker of Davenport.

Bruce served four years in the United States Marine Corps as a Reconnaissance Scout Sniper and received an honorable discharge. Later he was employed as a master mechanic and welder and worked for many businesses and individuals over the years in both New York and Pennsylvania. He inherited his amazing mechanical abilities from his father and could fix just about anything.

One of his favorite pastimes was helping friends and neighbors get their equipment up and running again whether it was a lawn tractor, Amish horse-drawn baler, or a huge computer-operated combine.

He is survived by Margaret (Fuller) Schoonmaker; their four children, Beth, Rachel, Paula and Bruce III; two grandchildren, Athena and Neko Hendrickson, all of Harpersfield; his brother, Bill Post of New Berlin; sisters, Sharon (Joe) Dianich of Davenport, Karen and Robin Schoonmaker of Stamford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Billie Mae (Graig) Schoonmaker.

Donations in Bruce’s name are asked to be made to the Davenport Fire Department.

A private graveside service will be held for the family in the Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.
