Marguerite N. VanValkenburgh Hull
PRATTSVILLE — Marguerite N. VanValkenburgh Hull, 99, of Johnson Hollow Road, Prattsville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Oneonta.
She was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Prattsville, the daughter of Clarence and Frances (Holcomb) VanValkenburgh.
Marguerite married Francis T. Hull on May 1, 1937, at Prattsville. He died June 13, 2002.
She was an active member of the Prattsville Methodist Church and its women’s society. A member of Home Bureau, she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Her grandchildren always were treated to her special cinnamon rolls and pies. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Surviving are three children, Francis V. (Donna) Hull, James (Roberta) Hull and Beverly (Hull) and husband, Charles Gockel; eight grandchildren, Michael Hull, Brenda Dzwankas, Charles B. Gockel, David Gockel, Deborah McMullen, James D. Hull, Beverly Haskins and Michelle Haight; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Lane, Madeline Mattice, Laura Murray and Mildred Hermance.
She was predeceased by brothers, Clarence, Robert and Donald VanValkenburgh.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Prattsville Methodist Church, with Pastor Charles B. Gockel, grandson of Marguerite, officiating.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
A committal service will follow the funeral in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Prattsville.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
