SEFFNER, Fla. — Donald S. Earl, 87, of Seffner, Fla., formerly of Unadilla, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, in Florida. He was born May 17, 1925, in Unadilla to J. Stanley and Ruth (Chapman) Earl.
Don graduated from Unadilla Central School, Class of 1942 , attended Cornell University’s School of Agriculture and started Earl’s Poultry Farm, which he owned and operated for more than 50 years. He loved his family, enjoyed his community and was a member of The Farm Bureau, SPICE — the NY State Poultry Industry Cooperative Effort, and the Fellowship Baptist Church, Unadilla, for more than 40 years. Don enjoyed doing chicken barbecues.
He is survived by his daughters, Marie McAndrews and Donna Earl; stepbrother Jim (Donna) Palmer, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews of both the Earl and DuMond families.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; siblings, Herbert, Jim and Dot Earl; son-in-law, John McAndrews; and nephew, Brian Knapp.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at The Fellowship Baptist Church, 1060 Covered Bridge Road, Unadilla. Rev. R. Michael Amos will officiate. Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, when the family will be in attendance. Interment will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Don’s memory to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 1060 Covered Bridge Road, Unadilla, 13849, or to Tampa General Foundation’s Saint and Sister’s Fund, which provides support to indigent cancer patients at 1 Tampa General Circle, Tampa, Fla. 33606.
