Mr. Alton H. Dingman, 94, passed away March 21, 2013.
He was born May 20, 1918, in Sprout Brook, the son of Harvey and Lizzie (Van Evera) Dingman.
Alton married Betty Rackmyer on June 29, 1940, and had a wonderful union for 73 years.
After retiring from farming in Salt Springville in 1981, he worked at Hyde Hall Park and Glimmerglass State Park for about 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, baseball, horseshoes tournaments, bowling and at the age of 80 started golfing. He also enjoyed his trips to the Turning Stone Casino along with playing bingo and cards at the Fort Plain Senior Center.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Carl) Yager of Richfield Springs: and their children, Claudia (Dave) Temple, Butch (Robin) Yager, his daughter, Linda’s children: Ronald Hayes, Denise (Ken) Hayes, A J (Jolene) Hayes and his daughter, Sally Potter of Palatine Bridge, and her children: Pam Mulder, Bonnie (Jim) Crews, Ann (Ben) Mulder; stepchildren, Diana (Don) Whiteman, Harold (Glenda) Potter, Joanne (David) Bramer and Nelson (Shelly) Potter; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Reuben Dingman; sister, Flossie Prime; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Hayes; and a son-in-law, Curt Potter.
Graveside memorial services will be announced in the spring.
