Georgianna E. Halbert


She is survived by two children, Roberta Halbert and Roger Halbert and his wife Helen, all of Gilbertsville; her foster son Ronald Miller of Seminole, FL. She is also survived by her grandson Jeffrey (Megan) Halbert of Allentown ,PA; two brothers Harry (Dorothy) Walke of Schenevus and Gerald Walke of Walton; cousin Rev. John (Donna) Currie of Oriskany; sisters-in-law Joyce Halbert, Palmetto, FL and Charlotte Oliphant, Binghamton; and brother-in-law, Peter DAmbrosio, Lansdowne, PA and a large circle of close friends.

She was predeceased by her brother Willis and wife Wanda Currie and her niece Deanna Currie; brothers and sisters-in-law, T. Russell Halbert; James and Elma Halbert; Gertrude DAmbrosio, Melvain Oliphant and Helen Prentice and Charles Prentice, who passed away on December 17, 2012.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to the wonderful staff of Chase Nursing Home who shared their skills, love and friendship with Georgianna these past six years. You truly made her days fulfilled at a difficult time in her life when so many of her beloved activities became a memory.

Calling hours will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 3 to 6:00 pm, with a Grange service at 5:30 pm. On Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville a calling hour will be held from 10 to 11:00 am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Piedmonte officiating and a committal service will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be sent to Butternut Valley Grange, (carpet/flooring project) PO Box 102, Gilbertsville, NY 13776; The Presbyterian Church (sanctuary restoration) PO Box 314, Gilbertsville, NY 13776 or the Sunshine Fund at Chase Nursing Home, PO Box 250, New Berlin, NY 13411.
