UNADILLA — Carmine A. Cidoni, 49, formerly of Long Island and most recently of Unadilla, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, beloved son of the late Yolanda (Ruberto) and Vincent Cidoni.

Carmine lived most of his life in the New York City/Long Island area until he moved to Unadilla in May of 2010 with his family. He was very close to his family, affectionately known as the world’s best brother and uncle. He worked with his brother Vincent as a painter at Vincent’s Painting and Decorating in Ronkonkoma, NY for over 25 years until he became disabled.

He was a very loving and compassionate man, always willing to help out anyone who was in need. Even if he was suffering, he gave to others before thinking of himself. His greatest love was Nova. Secondarily he loved to be outside fishing and, enjoying the time spent with his animals.

Carmine is survived by his beloved brothers and sisters, Joy Cidoni-Quaid and her husband Brian, Lee Azzizo, Francine Cidoni, Yolanda “Candy” Livolsi, Vincent Cidoni, and Rita Sowinski; he was a special uncle to Anthony, Vincent, Vincent, Yolanda, Joseph, Christopher, and John.

He is also survived by his partner and companion, Nova; his pals, Maxwell and Summer; and also several great nieces and nephews.

Carmine was predeceased by his brother, Carmine “Carl” Avvento and his niece, Lonnie Sowinski.

Friends and family may call from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 34 River Street, Otego, at which time the family will be in attendance.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mel Farmer officiating.
