FAIRPORT — Salvan M. Kelly, 89, died peacefully on Feb. 7, 2013.
He was born on March 27, 1923, at Parshall Hospital in Oneonta, son of Anthony and Mary Kelly.
Mr. Kelly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific and China.
He married Victoria Allegretti on March 17, 1948.
He worked for many years as a union carpenter, foreman and superintendent on many college campuses in Oneonta, Delhi and Cobleskill.
A loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his son, Stephen and wife, Michele; daughter, Mary Oakes and husband, Tim, all of Fairport. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Lauren Valenti and husband, Jason, Gretchen Kelly, Meagan Kelly and Victoria Oakes, all of the Rochester area; and two sisters, Doris Vaughn and Marie Ames.
He was predeceased by his wife, Victoria and three sisters, Theresa Greenlee, Vivian O’Donnell and Alpha Riddell.
A funeral mass will be held later at St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta.
The family thanks the staff at Perinton Park Manor and Strong Memorial Hospital (Trauma ICU and Palliative Care Unit) for the wonderful care he received.
