WALTON — Roland C. Finch, 73, a lifelong resident and respected building contractor in Walton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Rollie was born on Dec. 3, 1939, in Walton, the son of the late Mack and Lelia (Tuttle) Finch. He married Sharon Salton on July 15, 1961, in Walton.
Rollie was a self-employed contractor in Walton. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Walton where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of Lions Club, Kiwanis, Midstatesmens Chorus and Harmony Junction Quartet. He also participated in many plays of the Little Theatre groups. In his spare time he enjoyed turkey and deer hunting. Rollie was always there to help out when needed.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Sharon; his children, Lori (Marty) Fisher of Walton, Debra Finch of Walton, Jonathan (Trudy) Finch of Walton; his grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Joshua, Cassandra, Katrina, Shannon, MaKayla, Jack, Donavon, Cody, Eva, Gabriel, Nicholas, Chelsea; his great-grandson, Alex; his brother and sister in law, Dave and Valerie Salton of Binghamton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Mac Finch and sisters, Esther Budine and Florence MacDonald.
Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the United Presbyterian Church, Walton, with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays officiating.
