RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Vanda Alice Marmet, 59, of Richfield Hill Road, passed away as the result of an accident on Thursday morning, Oct. 24, 2013, at her home.

Vanda was born on Oct. 10, 1954, in Niagara Falls, daughter of the late Michael and Alice Ethel Beatrice Dann Kijanka. She was raised in Niagara Falls where she graduated from Saint Francis LaSalle High School. She furthered her education at Bryant & Stratton where she received her associate’s degree. In 1979, she moved to the town of Richfield from Niagara Falls.

Vanda had worked for GNNettest, the Richfield Springs Mercury, and JetNet, but worked primarily and most recently as an Advertising Sales Consultant for the Utica Observer Dispatch.

Vanda was a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs where she had served on the Church Vestry. She was also a former member of the Richfield Springs Garden Club.

To all who knew her she was a warm, caring and helpful person with an unforgettable laugh. She was happiest when she was in the company of her family. Vanda had a passion for music, literature, history, and visual arts. She will be truly missed.

Surviving are a son, Michael Marmet and his wife, Tracey Weaver Marmet of Richfield Springs; a daughter, Jennifer Strager Maine and her husband, John Maine of Plainfield; and a cherished granddaughter, Jillian Alice Maine of Plainfield.

The Service of the Burial Dead and Holy Communion will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Saint John’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Dixon Bartle, Rector, officiating.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the church service.
