SPRINGFIELD CENTER — John David Robertson of Springfield Center and Phoenix, Ariz., passed away on June 17, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
John was born in Oneonta on Oct. 25, 1952, and moved to Springfield Center at the age of 3 where he grew up on the family farm, Glimmerloch Farm; and attended Springfield Central Elementary and Cooperstown Central High Schools. John earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona.
A resident of Phoenix, Ariz., for over 40 years, John was employed as a design engineer with Fischer Design for many years; and later worked as a mechanical engineer with Hillman Group, and lastly Ecopath; all located in Phoenix, Ariz.
He is survived by Martha Mason Robertson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Rachel Robertson of Tempe, Ariz.; his mother, Mae A. Robertson of Springfield Center; sister, Joan Robertson Zaremski of Watervliet; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Robertson Fischer and James Fischer of Cooperstown; Paul Mason of Oxford, N.J.; Steven Mason of Branchville, N.J.; nephews, Joseph Fischer of Albany and Nathaniel Mason of Oxford, N.J.; and nieces, Michelle Fischer of Three Rivers, Calif., Catherine Fischer of Albany and Millicent Mason of Branchville, N.J.
He was predeceased by his father, James F. Robertson of Springfield Center.
Family and friends are invited to attend an informal memorial gathering at Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Cherry Valley, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, to express condolences, share memories and celebrate John’s life.
Interment in Springfield Cemetery will be held at a later date.
