OTEGO — Russel S. McCurdy, 83, of Otego, died Wednesday morning, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, after an illness.
He was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Palmyra, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul H. and Grace (Heck) McCurdy.
He was a graduate of the Milton Hershey High School and the Uniontown Baptist School. Russel was ordained in 1991, and served as pastor and missionary until he became ill.
He formerly owned and operated Six Maple Florist and greenhouses in Pennsylvania, and was self-employed as a carpenter for many years.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Letha Rose; and his three children, Nancy McCurdy of Williamsport, Pa., Karen Stanton of Scranton, Pa., and Keith McCurdy and wife Rae (his favorite daughter-in-law) of Unadilla; three sisters, Shirley Garber, Florence Davis and Elaine Kline; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Fellowship Baptist Lighthouse Church, 1062 Covered Bridge Road, Unadilla. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment: Hollisterville Cemetery, Hollisterville, Pa., time is approximately 3 or 3:30 p.m.
