STAMFORD — Goldie Oakley, 93, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.
Goldie was a lifelong area resident. She loved all things natural; animals, plants, trees, water and the sky.
She was an excellent cook and baker, with specialties such as zucchini pickles, bread and butter pickles, wild strawberry jam, assorted pies, cakes, and a savory chicken and dumplings.
She will be remembered by her daughters, Louise Schermerhorn, Linda Hupp (Chris), Loretta Hastick (George); her sons, Ernest Andrus (Sandra), Robert Andrus (Karin), Walter Nicholes (Jenny), Albert Andrus, Fred Oakley (Debra); and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Hall-Tari Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the funeral home with Elder Ken Krendall, officiating. Interment will follow in Stamford Cemetery.
