ONEONTA — Emmeline Sinniger, 92, of Oneonta, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.
She was born June 21, 1921, in Gilboa, the daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Coulter) Smith.
On May 6, 1939, Emmeline married Harry R. Sinniger in Oneonta. Harry predeceased her on July 13, 1967.
For several years, Emmeline worked at SUNY Oneonta in the housekeeping department before her retirement in 1981.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
Emmeline is survived by her nephews, Michael (Elaine) Sinniger, Lyons, Walter Jr. (Helen) Sinniger, Otego, Robert (Louise) Sinniger, Houston, Texas, and David (Josee) Sinniger, St. Louis, Mo.; and a niece, Agnes Sinniger Kuhn, Tampa, Fla.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Hazel Snow and Sadie Smith; and longtime companion, Dominick “Larry” Zupevec.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, from 11 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be held in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
