BURLINGTON — Douglas R. Peterson, 72, entered into the heavenly Kingdom of the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2014, with his family by his side.
Doug was born April 1, 1942, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Harold and Margaret (Raether) Peterson.
He married Jeanne Stelzer on Aug. 30, 1976, in Queens.
Doug retired from Con Edison as a Licensed Steam Engineer. He served in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1966.
Doug and Jeanne relocated to upstate New York gradually due to their common love for the outdoors. Doug enjoyed reloading, hunting, bird watching and was an avid reader.
Doug will be remembered by the many folks who knew him as a man of God, a man who took responsibility for his word.
Doug is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his brother, Dennis R. Peterson; his in-laws, Judy (Rhody) Hoerter, Larry (Judy) Stelzer, Kathy Wolfe, Delores (Gary) Majkowski, Dave (Kelly) Stelzer, Linda (Jerry) Bruesewitz, Mike (Patty) Stelzer, Jerry (Debbie) Stelzer, Joe (Camille) Stelzer, Terry (Diane) Stelzer, Mary Beth (Terry) Tomsyck and Lori (Dave) Schlegel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Cynthia Peterson.
Memorial service officiated by Pastor Bob Martin will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, with calling hours one hour prior to the services at the Burlington Flats Baptist Church.
Contributions may be made in Doug’s memory to the Burlington Flats Baptist Church or Catskill Hospice and Palliative Care, envelopes will be available.
