Theodore G. J. ‘Teddy’ Halstead Jr.

EAST MEREDITH — Theodore G. J. “Teddy” Halstead Jr., 41, of East Meredith, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital, with his wife and mom by his side following a battle with leukemia.

Born on April 16, 1973, in Sidney, the son of Theodore and Dottie (Johnson) Halstead Sr., he was raised in Delhi and was a graduate of Delaware Academy.

Teddy was a master glass blower, making beautiful works of glass art. He owned and operated Jedi Glassworks for over 18 years.

He enjoyed snowmobiling and was a member of the Catskill Trail Association. He loved roller coasters and riding motorcycles.

He was especially fond of his pets: his dog, Ryder, and cats, Jang and Azzy.

Teddy was predeceased by his father, Theodore Halstead Sr.; grandparents, Gladys Halstead Holder and George and Dorothy Johnson Lichtfuss; and his aunt, Eleanor “Nonie” Shephard.

He is survived by his wife, Tracy (Knapp) Halstead; mom, Dottie Johnson Halstead; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Delhi. Graveside services will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, County Route 10, Meridale, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bert More officiating.

Teddy’s family would like especially thank Kim and John Shephard, Fred and Judy Knapp, Jason and Rachel Brisbane, Mary Hall and Genie Wilse for all the special care they showed during Teddy’s illness.
