ONEONTA — Julius Uribe Jr., 75, of Oneonta, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, at M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Julius was born on May 1, 1938, in New York City, son of the late Julius and Josephine (Damiani) Uribe Sr. He married Haydee Osorio on March 20, 1960. She predeceased him on Aug. 29, 2010.
He was a retired New York City building engineer. He also served in the National Guard, 71st Infantry.
An area resident since 2007, he was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement and Local 32 B.
Julius was an avid landscaper and gardener and enjoyed playing dominoes, as well as his harmonica.
Julius is survived by his children, Michael Uribe of Oneonta and Monica H. George and her husband, Ken of Morris. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Briana and Nicholas George of Morris; his brother, Edward Uribe and his wife, Evelyn of Palm Coast, Fla.; and his loving dog, Casper.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 19, at the Lutheran Church of Atonement, 1 Center St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Messner officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
