MARGARETVILLE — Steven K. Vollmer, resident of Arkville, died Nov. 21, 2013, at Briarcliff Manor.

Born Oct. 28, 1946, in Hennepin County, Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Karl Frederick and Patricia Anne (McCarthy) Vollmer.

He grew up in Miami, Fla., with his mother, and sister, Anne, attended Southwest Miami High School and a member of the Royal Lance Marching Band as a great trumpet player. He then attended Florida State University majoring in advertising and spent an internship in Chatham, Mass., for a summer.

Later in life he was a member of the Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Kinky Friedman Band. Steven also worked with Bob Dylan and many more musical artists.

He is survived by his son, Daniel C. Vollmer of Arkville; his sister, Anne P. Magnan of Palmer, Mass.; a niece, Dannielle Kaiser of Turners Falls, Mass.; a nephew, Eric Magnan of San Francisco, Calif.; and his uncle, Gerald Mc Carthy, a retired Catholic priest of North Dakota.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Margaretville, with the Rev. Steven Scarmozzini, as celebrant.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville. Committal service will be held in Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.
