FRANKLIN PARK, N.J. — Alfred Worth of Franklin Park passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2013, with his family at his side. He was 90 years old.
Born in Gray, Maine, on July 18, 1922, he resided in New Jersey, lived for years in Wilmington, N.C., and retired to Richfield Springs, before returning to New Jersey only a few months ago.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Alfred was the proprietor of a hardware store in Sparta, N.J., a partner in Worth Bros. Antiques, and always an accomplished carpenter and home builder.
He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Kathleen; his first wife, Ruth; and siblings, Mildred and Ruth.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Helen; his son, Jim Worth and his wife, Terry; daughter, Jeanne Williams and her husband, Bob; stepsons, Keith Stensland and his wife, Brenda, Kris, Kevin and his wife, Helen, Ken, Kreg and his wife, Ashley; sisters, Beatrice and Marian; brother, Frank and his wife, Anita. He was “Popeye” to grandchildren, Jimmy and Caroline Worth. He was Grandpa Al to Kim and Rob Williams, Jessi, Kelly, Brett, Justin, Erin, Casey, Riley, Kaden, Shelby and Tyler Stensland and Ben Farrell. He was Great-Grandpa Al to Anna, Tara and Joe.
We will forever miss his hearty laugh, his big bear hugs, and his handshake that could bring you to your knees.
Graveside service and burial will take place in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. on Friday, April 26.
