John ‘Jack’ Smith
April 4, 1951-March 27, 2013
OLD LYME, Conn. — John “Jack” Mitchell Smith passed on peacefully March 27, 2013.
Jack was born on April 4, 1951, in New London, Conn., to Leonard “Pete” and Jessie Smith.
Jack married Lilly Rua in 1973, and moved to upstate New York and started a family. Jack began working for the family business, Rua and Sons.
Jack was very proud of his two children, Grace and Kacy, he considered them his greatest creations. He was creative, inventive and enjoyed the outdoors. Though he spent most of his time at work, he was always fishing in his free time.
Jack returned to Old Lyme as his father was ill and eventually lost his fight with cancer. Jack remained by his mother’s side, providing care and company.
He often left his calling card, the Jack of Hearts.
Jack is survived by his children, Grace and Kacy; his grandson, Dylan; the mother of his children, Lilly; his longtime girlfriend, Rose Anne; his brother, Peter and his wife, Dorie, and their children, Meghan and Zach; his brother-in-law, Phil and his children, Dayton and Jessica.
Jack was predeceased by his twin sister, Jane; and his parents.
He worked a lot, he laughed a lot, he fished a lot. May his soul rest, finding peace for eternity.
