Richard L. Haines
EAST AURORA — Dr. Richard L. Haines passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in East Aurora.
Beloved husband of 68 years to Margaret Ormond Haines; loving father of Charlotte (the Rev. John) Cooke of Elma, Janet (Thomas) Ruddy of Kingston, Pa., Richard E. (Christine) of Fountain Inn, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Cooke, Amy (Dean) Goodison, the Rev. David (Heather) Cooke, Nicole (Gary) Miller, Paul (Terri) DuMond, Stephen (Kelly) DuMond, Charles (Carissa) DuMond, Richard (Nicole) DuMond, Eric Haines, Laura (Jack) Schading; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, David.
Born Aug. 10, 1922, in Catskill, to the late Floyd and Laura Duncan Haines, he graduated from Catskill High School, University of Virginia, and UVA Medical School and was certified in internal medicine.
He served in the United States Navy and in the U.S. Public Health Service in Buffalo, San Francisco, Calif., Mobile, Ala., and Staten Island, before establishing private medical practices in Oneonta, (1957 to 1981), and Hampstead, N.C. (1981 to 1996).
In 2010, he and his wife moved north to be with their children.
Friends will be received 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Orchard Park Wesleyan Church, 7295 Ellicott Road, Orchard Park, NY 14127.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the Town of Catskill Cemetery, Catskill.
