Leona S. Ellis
TROUT CREEK — Leona S. Ellis, 89, of Trout Creek, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Norwich after an extended illness.
Leona was born on Oct. 2, 1924, daughter of the late Clement and Versa (Hall) Snow in Guilford. She was a longtime employee of Amphenol Corp. in Sidney, working in various departments before her retirement.
Leona was a dedicated member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 502 in Sidney. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and reading. She loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables alike. She also loved family gatherings; her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by longtime companion, Charles Cannon, Trout Creek; three daughters, Kim Holden, Trout Creek, Dorothy Boning, North Franklin and Denise and David Beaney, Leesburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Rachael Holden, Karen Boning, Patti Boning and Derek Beaney; two great-grandchildren, Corey Beaney and Katie Robinson; brother, Robert Newman; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Albert Tuttle.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, led by the Women of the Moose Chapter 502.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Sidney Women of the Moose Chapter No. 502, 20 East Main St., Sidney, NY 13838.
