TREADWELL — Eleanor Foster Shover, 99, most recently of Treadwell and formerly of Medford, N.J., passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1914, in Pensauken Twp., N.J., the daughter of Edgar and Anna (Workman) Blaker.
She married Newell E. Shover on May 30, 1936, in Riverside, N.J. He predeceased her in 1984.
Eleanor graduated from Mount Holly High School. She was a great cook and enjoyed canning food from the garden.
She was an LPN, and worked at Mount Holly Hospital for several years and then at Willey Mission in Marlton.
Eleanor lived several years at Old Marlton Pike in a farmhouse in which her husband was born and where he died. Upon his passing, she moved to Voorhees, N.J., and resided there until moving to New York several years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. For several months, she resided at the Hampshire House before for moving to A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Elder of Gloucester, and Irene Shivers of Treadwell; four grandchildren, Emerson Shivers Jr., Joseph Shivers and his wife, Meg, Ann Louise Elder and Harvey Elder Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Neil, Mathew and Brittany McBride and Meredith and Joshua Shivers; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Harvey Elder Sr. and Emerson Shivers Sr.
A graveside service will be held in New Jersey at the convenience of the family.
