MOUNT VISION — Rita A. Eckert, 76, of Mount Vision, died peacefully in her home after a long illness on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.

Mrs. Eckert was born and raised in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Angie E. White.

She was the wife of the late Robert J. Eckert. Rita lived in Charlton, for 35 years before moving to Mount Vision to be closer to family.

She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and Mildred Elley in Albany. Rita worked at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) for 17 years until the arrival of her daughter.

After raising her family, she worked at a car dealership, than became an office representative at two different insurance agencies in the Burnt Hills area.

Rita was a member of the Burnt Hills Methodist Church and was an officer and active member in the Home Bureau Organization. She was also an active member of the Elm Park Methodist Church in Oneonta.

Mrs. Eckert is survived by her daughter, Susan A. Mathieson and her husband, Richard; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jonah; her brother, Keith C. White and his wife, Mary Jane; and a niece and nephew.

Her family will remember her as a devoted wife and mother, and an extremely loving grandmother.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, with the memorial service starting at 4 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

Private interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Charlton, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Rita to the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
