SHARON SPRINGS — Marjorie Ann Hartnagle Hayner died on Sunday, March 10, 2013.

She grew up in Lansingburgh. Upon graduation with the Class of 1957 from Lansingburgh High School, she worked at the New York Telephone Company. She married David Hayner in 1961 and followed him to Jacksonville, N.C., while he served in the United States Marine Corps. When they returned north, they bought a home and settled in Sharon Springs, where they raised a family and resided since 1965.

A wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, she lived for her family and friends. She also hosted four wonderful exchange students who became a true part of her family.

In addition to caring for her family, she worked with her husband, David as the office manager in his farm equipment business, Hayner Brothers Inc., in Cherry Valley. Later she spent more than 20 years working for the Schoharie County Office of Emergency Management retiring in June of 2010.

Survivors include her husband David of 51 years; her four children, Suzanne (David), Tara (Shane), Krista and David and seven grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at St. Matthew’s Chapel in Sharon Springs (Leesville). A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 15, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cobleskill. A graveside service will be held following in Memory Gardens in Albany.
