UNADILLA — Stephen J. Quimby, 93, of Rogers Hollow, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born March 15, 1920, in Unadilla (Rogers Hollow) the son of Tracy and Erma (Weidman) Quimby. He married the former Vivian Grant, who survives, on Dec. 26, 1943, at the Friends Church in Rogers Hollow.
Steve was a self-employed dairy farmer and lifelong resident of Rogers Hollow where he trucked milk to the dairy and, in his later years, had been employed as a custodian for the Unatego Central School District.
He and his wife, Vivian enjoyed several years spending time at their winter home in Rockledge, Fla. Steve was a member of the Friends Church in Rogers Hollow and the Unadilla Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vivian Quimby of Rogers Hollow; two sons Steve Quimby of Unadilla and Donald (Rhea)Quimby of New Mexico; two daughters Barbara Fairchild of Unadilla and Susan (Sheldon) Butler of Harpursville; grandchildren, Austin and Ethan Quimby, David (Lisa) Butler, Mike (Kathy) Butler, Matt (Tish) Butler and Holli (Kris) Fish; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cassie, Hailey, Derek, Deanna, Jeni, Dannielle, Tyler and Ally.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Friends Church, Rogers Hollow. Pastor Ben Shaw will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Rogers Hollow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to either the Friends Church in Rogers Hollow or the Unadilla Emergency Squad.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home Inc. of Unadilla.
